Preservation North Dakota is accepting grant applications for the Grassroots Grant Program. Established in 2001, the Grassroots Grant Program provides funding for historic preservation projects in North Dakota. The program is administered by Preservation North Dakota, a private nonprofit organization that provides leadership, educational opportunities, advocacy and resources to help North Dakotans preserve prairie places.
Grants generally range from $500 to $5,000 and are available in two categories: Prairie Churches Grassroots Grants; and Prairie Places Grassroots Grants. PND has allocated $15,000 in 2010 to the grant program. Interested parties should visit www.prairieplaces.org for application materials, or request an application packet by calling 701-356-3001 or emailing info@prairieplaces.org. Applications must be postmarked on or before May 15, 2010.
Prairie Churches Grassroots Grant: Eligibility: Individuals and organizations applying for Prairie Churches grant funding must be located in a rural area or city with a population of 2,500 or less. The property must be eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Prairie Places Grassroots Grant: Eligibility: Members of Preservation North Dakota’s Local Affiliate Program may apply for grant funding to be used for restoration projects. The property must also be eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
