Rurik Fritiof Ekstrom
1934-2005

The Rurik Ekstrom Historic Preservation Scholarship Fund was established in 2005. The scholarship was created by family and friends in honor of Rurik Ekstrom, board member and past president of Preservation North Dakota.

Rurik received his bachelor of Architecture from the University of Virginia and his Master of Fine Art from Yale University. He served as professor and chairman of the Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at North Dakota State University located in Fargo, ND.

Rurik was passionate about learning new things and sharing his knowledge with others. He had a special fondness for history and an expertise in the preservation of historic structures. Using his architectural skill to promote education was an interest that he pursued throughout his life.

Donations to the fund are tax deductible. To make a donation, Contact Us

Each year the fund will cover conference registration costs for two selected Art and Architecture students, or those enrolled in a related program of study, to attend the annual North Dakota Historic Preservation Conference.
