Casselton Heritage Center

The Casselton Stone Church (formerly St. Stephen's Episcopal Church) was built in 1886 in Casselton, Dakota Territory, for the Episcopalians by General George Cass. The building was owned by the Episcopalians until 1950, and then purchased by the Mennonites who worshiped in the building until 2002. The grant allowed the Casselton Heritage Center to replace the front doors of the building with doors hand crafted to match the original with matching hardware. The Casselton Heritage Center is a community museum, historical center and retreat center that hosts art shows, educational programs, demonstrations, as well as occasional worship services, weddings, and funerals. The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Restoration Project Cost: $5,455.00
Prairie Churches Grassroots Grant: $2,523.75
Local Match: $2,931.25
