Hotel Johnson

Hotel Johnson was built in 1906 in Manfred, ND. It was a bustling hotel with the capacity for 45 regular boarders and guest rooms upstairs, and a dining room, kitchen, and dance hall on the main level. In 1953, the building was purchased by the Fagerlund Sons of Norway Lodge and used for lodge and community events until the 1980s. Restoration began in 2005 when Melby Heritage Society, a member of PND's Local Affiliate Program, was organized.

This Prairie Places Grassroots Grant will assist MHS to reconstruct a boardwalk along the front of the hotel.

Restoration Project Cost: $2,779
Prairie Churches Grassroots Grant: $1,300
Local Match: $1,479
